2018 NFL Power Rankings: Mahomes impresses, Rodgers plays magician
By Randy Gurzi
29. Cleveland Browns (29)
What an unsatisfying way to end a losing streak. They were 0-16 in 2017 and had 17 losses in a row, but 2018 was supposed to be different for the Cleveland Browns. Well, it kind of was different as they ended their opening game with a tie at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Really, they should have won this easily. Or maybe, they should have been blown out. Pittsburgh a 21-7 lead midway through the fourth quarter and somehow Cleveland came back. A fumble by James Conner set them up at the one-yard line and from there, they got themselves back into it.
Really though, their offense had let them down all day before then. The Steelers had six turnovers when all was said and done and Cleveland failed to make the most out of those — with the majority of the turnovers ending with a punt.
Tyrod Taylor was wildly inaccurate as he completed just 15-of-40 passes on the day. He did help keep the offense going with his legs at least. He was the top yardage gainer for the Browns with 77 yards and a touchdown. They’re going to need to clean things up on offense though as they go to New Orleans next week to face the Saints.
