2018 NFL Power Rankings: Mahomes impresses, Rodgers plays magician
By Randy Gurzi
25. Dallas Cowboys (22)
All offseason we heard about the Dallas Cowboys losing big name players. Dez Bryant was released, Jason Witten retired, and then to top it off, they released the second-most accurate kicker in NFL history. Then in their first game against the Carolina Panthers without all these players, they mustered up a whole eight points. The passing game was weak and they missed the only field goal attempt of the game.
So, does this mean they’re feeling the pain from all the players lost? No. Even if all the aforementioned players would have been in uniform, this would have been a loss. The fact is this offense is boring, predictable, and doesn’t scare anyone. There’s more wrong with it than a couple veterans would have fixed — because let’s be honest, they were bad last year with them. The leash on head coach Jason Garrett seems to be forever long, but even Jerry Jones has to be getting tired of the same results.
As for their defense, they played hard in this one and even had three sacks. Holding the Panthers to 16 points isn’t easy, but they did that and once again played well enough that they had a shot to win. The offense just keeps holding them back.
