New York Jets: 3 Standouts from Week 1 vs. Lions
The New York Jets routed the Detroit Lions 48-17 on Monday Night Football, and quite a few players stood out. We will take a look at them here.
When you go to an NHL game, after the game is over, three players skate back on to the ice. Those are the players who are deemed to have had the best night among all the players in the game, and the NHL refers to them as the “Stars of the Game.” Well, the New York Jets played a great all-around game, and it’s tough to pick three, but they most certainly had three guys who stood out.
Many people had very low expectations for this Jets team, because they “lacked talent.” On Monday night, they proved that they can put it all together, and they shouldn’t be taken lightly by anyone in this league.
Who stood out for the Jets, though? Let’s delve into that.
(Note: Sam Darnold played well, but he’s an honorable mention this week, because he’s just barely outside the top three players for the Jets.)
3. Andre Roberts
The Jets scored six touchdowns against the Lions, and Roberts had his fingerprints on two of them. The first was set up by a long return which put the Jets in Lions territory, and the second he basically said, “Let me do this myself,” as he tip-toed down the sidelines into the end zone. Roberts was an integral part of the Jets victory.
