4. Scoring in a multitude of ways

No one thought this team would be able to score coming in. Most thought the Jets would have to rely on defense and hoping for short fields for defensive stops. At least for one game, the Jets proved they have the ability to score in a multitude of ways.

The Jets scored in almost every single way you can imaginably score in a football game. Isaiah Crowell had a long run for a score. Darnold hit Anderson deep and Quincy Enunwa for a catch and run touchdown. Andre Roberts returned a punt for a touchdown, and Darron Lee returned an interception for a touchdown. (We’ll get to Lee’s night later).

For at least one night, Kacy Rodgers, Bates and Brant Boyer can sleep easy. All three phases of the Jets looked much better than they did during the preseason. The special teams looked especially good considering all of the question marks they had coming out of preseason.

The Jets showed their full range of scoring, and now we know what they can do. It can’t be expected in every game, but what can be expected is that the defense and special teams now showed they are capable of putting this team in position to score and short fields. Now let’s see if they can do that consistently.
