2018 NFL Quarterback Power Rankings, Week 2: Pretenders start to fall
By Randy Gurzi
20. Eli Manning, New York Giants
Eli Manning was supposed to be better this season with running back Saquon Barkley and the return to health of wide receiver Odell Bekham, Jr. After one game, he still looks like the same Eli Manning. He was erratic with his throws, gave the defense a pick-six and ended the day with just 15 points and a loss.
Not to knock on Barkley, but it probably would have been wiser for them to have taken Sam Darnold with that No. 2 pick. Then again, if this game was any indication they will be drafting high again next season. Being fair, the Jaguars defense is really strong. But it was a rough outing nonetheless.
19. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
Year after year, the Dallas Cowboys feed fans these lines about getting things fixed and being better. Then they come out and look like the same lackluster team that frustrated them the season before. This past offseason was especially loud as there were cuts, retirements, and a change to a Dak-friendly offense. This was supposed to be built around Dak Prescott and cater to what he does best.
Sadly, it was the same old stuff. Dallas is still trying to keep Dak in the pocket when he’s clearly better outside of it and they did nothing to cater to his strengths. He’s probably never going to be a top-tier guy, but the coaches do him no favors. Prescott plays his heart out and can have some amazing plays — often with his legs. Even so, his accuracy is questionable and it was really bad this weekend.
