1. Matt Patricia

Some head coaches that end up on the losing end of their first game receive the benefit of the doubt since there are times when it’s not always an easy adjustment, but nobody is defending Patricia for what took place on Monday night when the Lions lost to the Jets. With all due respect to New York, many expected the team to be outmatched against Detroit when seeing how the two teams compared on paper, making this loss even more frustrating to accept.

Even if this contest was close, it would have certainly helped Patricia’s case over making a few adjustments to his first game as head coach. But between losing by 31 points along with some reports claiming that certain players don’t appreciate Patricia’s coaching style, the Lions have to wonder if they made the right choice in the offseason by making him the new head coach.

Plus, when seeing how banged-up Matthew Stafford (four interceptions) looked in what can only be describe as a performance to forget, one can only imagine what this weekend’s game on the road against the San Francisco 49ers could consist of. Unlike the Lions, the 49ers aren’t feeling nearly as much pressure to win in Week 2 following a tough loss to the Minnesota Vikings, but if Patricia’s career begins 0-2, there’s going to be a ton of outrage in Detroit.
