Minnesota Vikings: 5 Bold predictions for Week 2 vs. Packers
By Randy Gurzi
1. Kirk Cousins throws for 350 yards in a big win
One of the biggest stories of the offseason was the question about where Kirk Cousins would play in 2018. He ended up joining the Vikings courtesy of a three-year contract that’s fully guaranteed for $84 million. After one week, it looks like he’s going to do just fine for them.
Cousins was efficient with the ball against San Francisco as he threw for 244 yards with two touchdowns and no turnovers. That wasn’t a bad start, but watch for him to start opening things up now that he’s a little more comfortable in his new surroundings.
We’ve already talked about Dalvin Cook having a big game — not just rushing, but also as a receiver — as well as Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs putting up some numbers. In order for them to all do this, they need Cousins to be on his A-game.
Look for him to be dealing it as he showcases what he was brought to Minnesota for. This team went 13-3 with Case Keenum, but to stay atop the North, they needed to be able to compete with the Packers high-scoring offense.
Cousins may not be in the same category as Rodgers, but on this day he outduels him and tops 350 yards leading the team to a big win that could have an impact on who ultimately wins this division.
