1. Quincy Enunwa

The Jets have historically been a defense-centric franchise, but they seem to be getting with the times. It’s said that a quarterback’s best friend is his tight end, especially if he’s a rookie. Well, Sam Darnold has found a wide receiver — that Brian Griese kept referring to as a wide receiver in the body of a running back — who can fill that security blanket role. His name is Quincy Enunwa.

Enunwa had six catches (three on the outside and three over the middle) for 63 yards and one touchdown. Even though his lone touchdown came from a catch on the outside, he became a prime target in the middle of the field. He gained 34 of his 63 yards in the middle of the field. He led all Jets receivers in receptions over the middle of the field.

Even with the one drop, Enunwa showed he’s a reliable target in the middle of the field. He also showed he’s becoming Darnold’s favorite target. He led the Jets receivers in targets for the game with nine.

Before the injury that sidelined him for the entire 2017 season, Enunwa was becoming a quality NFL receiver, and he showed what Robby Anderson showed last year in his absence. The Darnold-Enunwa combination can be a dangerous one against a weak Dolphins secondary, and if it is, the Jets will win in going away.
