1. Nick Foles

It’s hard to write about the Eagles anymore without the mention of Nick Foles or Carson Wentz. The quarterback position surrounding this team will be talked about nonstop until Wentz can come back from injury and get back to his old ways. Since Wentz still hasn’t been cleared for contact it will be up to Foles to lead the way this week against Tampa Bay.

Foles clearly struggled against the Falcons in Week 1. His statline of 19-of-34 for 117 yards and one interception with no touchdowns is worrisome. He looked like the Foles of the preseason and nowhere near the quarterback that was leading the Eagles to Super Bowl glory.

The biggest highlight of Foles’ week was actually catching a pass instead of throwing one. His reception in the “Philly, Philly” was able to help catapult the Eagles to a Week 1 victory. Though, it’s safe to say that the Eagles won’t be banking on his receiving skills to lead them to victory this week.

Instead he is going to have to find a way to wake up and show glimpses of the quarterback that Eagles fans know he can be. He doesn’t have to be excellent, but he has to be steady. Just a steady game out of him should be enough for the Eagles to get a victory on the road.

If his struggles continue against Tampa Bay there’s going to be some pressure in the building to bring Wentz back sooner than initially planned. Keep an eye on Foles in this game because the Eagles can’t go on forever with a quarterback who is struggling to make plays.
