Jaire Alexander, Cornerback

If not for a spectacular throw and catch from Mitch Trubisky to Allen Robinson, Green Bay Packers rookie cornerback Jaire Alexander would have had a spectacular night. He held his own against the Bears receivers and was a key part of the defense when it mattered the most.

There were multiple instances of Alexander getting his nose to the ball and making some extraordinary open-field tackles. The rookie has always had a knack for the ball, but he made some amazing plays that will go unnoticed by the average fan. He needs to do more of the same on Sunday against a revamped Vikings offense. Instead of facing Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel and Anthony Miller, he will face Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen and Laquon Treadwell.

It will be a tougher challenge for Alexander who needs to prove his worth for the Packers. He’s been solid so far, but he is the future of the secondary, along with Kevin King and Josh Jackson. The offense will have a hard time scoring against the Vikings defense, so it will be up to the Packers defense to make some plays and keep the team in the game.

That starts with the play of Alexander. He can make big-time plays in big-time situations. One of those momentum-shifting plays can come on Sunday, and it’s likely Alexander will be right in the middle of it all.
