3. Davante Adams vs. Xavier Rhodes

Arguably the best cornerback in the NFC North going up against argubaly the best receiver in the NFC North. What more could you ask for?

Davante Adams is coming off a spectacular performance against Chicago, in which he showcased his savvy route running and run after the catch abilities to the tune of five receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown. On the flip side, Xavier Rhodes essentially shut down his side of the field against San Francisco, as Jimmy Garoppolo only threw his way once.

Adams enters the matchup as Pro Football Focus’ (subscription required) No. 7 receiver after one week, while Rhodes is ranked as the No. 5 cornerback. The matchup features a literal clash at the line of scrimmage — Adams with his exceptional release off the line, and Rhodes’ outstanding ability in press man coverage. The Vikings aren’t afraid to leave Rhodes on an island, so it becomes an even bigger responsibility for Adams to gain separation. Expect a physical battle between the two all game.

Rhodes will likely be the toughest matchup Adams will face all season, so don’t be surprised if he doesn’t post a healthy-looking stat line. In addition to that, Rodgers is known for not throwing at esteemed cornerbacks, but may be forced to take more chances due to the Vikings’ overall strength as a defensive unit.
