Sunday Night Football returns for a second week of action, and Week 2 will see the focus shift from the NFC North to the NFC East.

The first week of Sunday Night Football showcased the NFL and the NFC North at a very high level when the Green Bay Packers made a comeback effort against the Chicago Bears, winning by a 24-23 score. This Sunday Night is another grand rivalry matchup when the Dallas Cowboys face the New York Giants.

Playing in front of a national audience on NBC against each other on Sunday Night Football isn’t new for these two storied NFL franchises, and this weekend both the Cowboys and the Giants will look to not fall to 0-2 to start the season.

Starting 0-2 to begin an NFL season is tough on any franchise, but playing in the NFC East with the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles would make for a tough season to return to the top of the division standings.

All-time the Cowboys lead the series 64-46-2 with the Cowboys winning seven of the past 10 meetings, including sweeping the series last season by scores of 19-3 on Sept. 10, 2017 and 30-10 on Dec. 10, 2017.

As for the start of the 2018 season the Cowboys opened with a stagnant offensive effort, losing to the Carolina Panthers, 16-8 with their lone score coming off a touchdown run by Ezekiel Elliott in the fourth quarter.

The Giants lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1 by a 20-15 score with No. 2 overall pick Saquon Barkley rushing for 106 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries. Quarterback Eli Manning was 23-of-37 for 224 yards with no touchdowns and one interceptions.

In comparison for the Cowboys, Elliott rushed the ball 15 times for 69 yards with one touchdown, while Dak Prescott was 19-of-29 for 170 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.

Both the Cowboys and the Giants have much to prove in Week 2 on Sunday Night Football, but which one will be the team who steps up to the plate and takes control of the season early on and which one will fall to 0-2?
