An early season AFC West matchup has the Oakland Raiders on the road against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Sep. 16 in Week 2 of the 2018 NFL Season

It’s still incredibly early, but the performance in Week 1 doesn’t look good for the second Jon Gruden era. The Oakland Raiders added him in the offseason after a decade of him working for ESPN and things were interesting, to say the least, leading up to his first game.

Oakland seemed to reach some in the first and second round of the draft and then they traded away Khalil Mack — one of the best defenders in the NFL. After all that happened, they were embarrassed on Monday Night Football in a 33-13 loss to the Rams.

As for the Denver Broncos, they come in at 1-0 following a three-point win over Seattle in Week 1. They had a season to forget in 2017, but their roster wasn’t bad — they just didn’t have a quarterback they believed in. Now with Case Keenum under center, the belief is that’s changed.

Keenum led the Minnesota Vikings to a 13-3 record last season after they lost Sam Bradford to injury. He’s been a journeyman with up and down performances, but a trip to the NFC Championship Game gave him some swag and led to the Broncos paying him big money.

He had three picks in his debut but also had three touchdowns. Most importantly, they won. Now they look for their first in-division win as they aim to get back into the AFC West race while putting the Raiders in a hole.

Here’s everything you need to catch the game.

Denver’s favored in this one by nearly a touchdown. That’s not surprising considering the Raiders struggles in Week 1. The rest of the information you need for the Week 2 odds can be found below.

Prediction

Gruden might be able to get it all figured it out again, but he can’t fix all the issues this team had in just one week. After they scored 13 points in the first half last week, they were blanked and quarterback Derek Carr was awful. Facing the Broncos is no cure-all for quarterback struggles. This one likely covers the spread.

Final Score: Raider 16, Denver 28
