After kickers struggled to make clutch kicks all over the NFL in Week 2, free agent Dan Bailey may be able to name his price as they search for improvement

The most obvious places have to be Cleveland and Minnesota, but free agent kicker Dan Bailey is about to have his choice of destinations after Week 2. He could also name his price.

Both the Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings have a huge need at the position after their games were altered due to poor kicking. The Browns saw second-year pro Zane Gonzalez fall apart and it cost them the game. The same happened with Minnesota as rookie Daniel Carlson caused their comeback to end in a tie rather than a win.

Gonzalez missed two field goals and two extra points for the Browns. One extra point whiff came after a phenomenal touchdown pass from Tyrod Taylor to Antonio Callaway tied things up at 18. He then had a shot at redemption with the Browns down 21-18 with a long kick of 52 yards. He had the distance, but it was wide like his other kicks were.

For Carlson, he missed two kicks during regulation. Like Gonzalez, he had a shot at redemption with a kick in overtime from just 35 yards out. Carlson whiffed on that one and their 22-point fourth quarter end up leading to a tie instead of a win.

Both teams should be looking to move on and Bailey makes the most sense. Bailey has connected on 88.2 percent of his kicks and is the second-most accurate kicker of all time.

The Dallas Cowboys released him just before the season and he remains a free agent despite there being interest almost immediately upon his release.

It may work out best for him that he’s still available because a bidding war could be coming for a guy who surely would have hit at least one of those clutch kicks that were missed. Actually, he likely would have hit them all.
