Dan Bailey

It seems nuts to think that Dan Bailey is still even a free agent. One of the best kickers in the league, he was recently released by the Dallas Cowboys following a 2017 campaign that was dragged down by nagging injuries.

However, when healthy, Bailey is among the most reliable legs the NFL has ever seen. In fact, at this moment, he’s the second-most dependable kicker in league history, having converted on an impressive 88.1 percent of his career boots. Only the Baltimore Ravens’ Justin Tucker has been better (90.3) than Bailey.

That’s why he’s the one the Vikings should target. In fact, Spielman should be on the phone with his agent right now. It’s that big of an issue after Week 2’s major letdown.

Bailey has knocked through all but three of his PATs over the last three years, is capable of putting it through the uprights from around the mid-50s, and is an experienced option. That sounds like the exact opposite of some of the poor kickers the Vikings have been plagued by in recent memory (cough, Blair Walsh, cough).

Get it done, Minnesota. Sign Bailey and send Carlson packing before it’s too late. That is, if they aren’t outbid by the Cleveland Browns for his services.
