Minnesota Vikings: 3 Big takeaways from gut-wrenching tie

2. Theilen and Diggs could be the best receiver duo
After the way they played in Week 2, the Minnesota Vikings starting receivers may be ready to throw their name into the best wide receiver duo talk. There are a bunch of possibilities here with teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers featuring Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster and the Atlanta Falcons with Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu. Interestingly enough those two have a young rookie in the mix as well making them great trios with Calvin Ridley on Atlanta and James Washington on Pittsburgh.
Back to the Vikings though — and back to the top two receivers. Thielen and Diggs are both fantastic route runners with phenomenal hands. They also both made sensational catches in the Vikings big comeback. Diggs finished with two touchdowns off nine receptions with 128 yards. His most remarkable catch was a low thrown pass that he scooped up near his feet for a score.
Not to be outdone, Thielen ripped off 131 yards off 12 receptions. He capped off the 22-point fourth quarter comeback with a beautiful grab in-between defenders. It was a great throw — and gutsy — out of Kirk Cousins, and great concentration from Thielen to haul it in.
These two may not be the best, but they’re not far from it. Maybe this season working with Cousins is what it will take to push them over the top. Because let’s be honest, if they keep playing like they did in this one, they will finish this season atop that conversation.
Thielen and Diggs played well enough to get the win. Unfortunately, they have to settle for the big comeback leading to a tie.
