1. Darnold has some room to grow

Coming into the NFL this season, Sam Darnold was a highly-regarded prospect. The one issue that could give teams pause was his lack of playing time. Darnold started just 27 games in two seasons at USC and while he showed a ton of promise, he was raw.

This didn’t mean he wasn’t worthy of being a top pick — and the Cleveland Browns were seriously considering him at No. 1. What it meant was starting him as a rookie may not be ideal. The Jets ended up starting him though and he’s shown flashes while also having growing pains.

In Week 1, it looked like he was going to be just fine. He bounced back from his pick-six to play very well and lead the Jets to victory. In Week 2, he continued to play well but had two turnovers — one in the end zone that really hurt their comeback chances.

Darnold is the real deal and he’s going to be the face of the Jets for many years. They did fantastic getting him at No. 3, but he still has some growing to do. The good news is, even while growing he’s showing a ton of promise.
