The Oakland Raiders went to Mile High Stadium looking for their first win of 2018. Unfortunately, the Broncos had other plans in Week 2.

The Oakland Raiders came into this week’s game looking to get head coach Jon Gruden his first win. Standing in their way was the Raider’s arch-rival Denver Broncos.

Ultimately, it came down to a blocked extra point. The Raiders had just scored a second quarter touchdown. The score would put the Raiders up by 13 points going into halftime. Instead, the Broncos blocked the extra point. The loss of that one point would turn out to be the difference in the game as the Broncos defeated the Raiders 20-19.

So, it is back to the drawing board for the Raiders. This week saw the Raiders offense come to life. But the defense continues to struggle with rushing the passer and holding the edge against the run. The Raiders are heading to week 3 of the season still trying to put it all together.

Here are three big takeaways from the loss to the Broncos.

1. Marshawn Lynch Carries the Day

The Raiders came into the game needing a boost on offense. Marshawn Lynch gave them the boost. Lynch was unstoppable all day long. He showed his signature balance, quickness and power to lead the Raiders offense to a prolific day.

Lynch’s prowess was helped by the offensive line creating huge holes. The interior of the offensive line took care of business today. They created the big holes and running lanes. Lynch hit those holes and created extra yards after that. The offense looked dynamic in the second half. It all started with Lynch.
