Steve Wilks searches for answers to correct the Arizona Cardinals massive regression as a team

Head coach Steve Wilks and the Arizona Cardinals expected a tough game against the Los Angeles Rams. The blowout loss, 34-0, was not expected. Wilks is reeling trying to correct the direction of the Cardinals. The Cardinals could only muster 137 total yards. Los Angeles has a tough defense but Arizona could not find any offensive rhythm. David Johnson ran for 48 yards on 13 carries.

Larry Fitzgerald caught three of five passes for 28 yards. Christian Kirk snared four of five passes for 27 yards. Ricky Seals-Jones caught four of six passes for 17 yards.

Kent Somers of AZCentral.com reported that Fitzgerald injured a hamstring. Somers said the following on the matter:

"“Yeah, I felt it grab and the next play I felt it again,” Fitzgerald said. “It wasn’t like a bad one, like I didn’t feel it pop or anything like that. But it grabbed good enough where I knew if maybe if I kept going at it that it could have gotten much worse and I didn’t want to add insult to injury."

Arizona struggled to move the chains throughout the game. They collected only five first downs. The Cardinals converted three times on third down out of 12, a 25 percent conversion rate. That is not winning football.

Hopefully, Arizona has hit rock bottom and is ready to reverse its course. The question is whether Josh Rosen takes the reigns as the starting quarterback. Is it wise to throw the rookie into the fire so soon?

Apparently, change is coming for the team. Wilks expressed to the media that no job is secure. Logan Newman of ArizonaSports.com reported the following comments from the head coach:

"“I’m not going to sit here and say right after the game what we’re going to do from a personnel standpoint, but I will say this: Everybody will be evaluated,”"

The Chicago Bears come to town on Sunday for the Week 3 matchup. Seattle is the opponent in the following week. Wilks must right the ship and win the next two games. Remember, the NFL season is a marathon not a sprint. The Cardinals have 14 games left to play.
