Chicago Bears: 3 Bold predictions for Week 2 vs. Seahawks
Looking to shake off a tough loss to open 2018, the Chicago Bears could have big things in store for Monday Night Football against the Seahawks.
For 30 minutes of the 2018 NFL season, it looked as if the Matt Nagy era for the Chicago Bears was about to get off to the hottest of starts. Of course, a game lasts for 60 minutes and, when those 60 minutes are played against Aaron Rodgers, you can’t let off the gas. Unfortunately for Nagy and the Bears, they did and were left on the wrong end of a masterful comeback, losing 24-23 in Week 1.
It’s still the beginning of the new season, however, meaning that Chicago has plenty of time to turn things around moving forward. By jumping out to a 17-point lead over the Green Bay Packers last week, they showed that they can do big things. Now it’s about putting all of the pieces together to form success.
They’ll have the chance to do that in primetime once again, this time taking on the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football. Heading into this big NFC matchup, here are three bold predictions for the Chicago Bears in Week 2.
3. Mitchell Trubisky has his second career 300-yard game
Despite all of the talk about the Bears offense being completely revamped under Nagy’s direction, second-year quarterback Mitchell Trubisky didn’t put up the gaudiest of stats in the Week 1 loss to the Packers. The North Carolina product finished the game going 23-of-35 for just 171 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions, though he did find the end zone with his legs once to go with 32 rushing yards.
Having said that, I expect Trubisky to have much more success this week against Seattle. Yes, Earl Thomas still looms large in the Seahawks secondary, but the players around him have changed and leave the unit as a whole worse off than they once were. Put simply, they’re now a group that could indeed be taken advantage of.
We know that the Bears put the weapons around Trubisky this offseason, such as Allen Robinson, Trey Burton and Taylor Gabriel, to go along with Tarik Cohen and Jordan Howard. With that and with this group getting more comfortable under Nagy, I think we see the offense and Trubisky have the breakout showing they were hoping for.
