The Dallas Cowboys were able to move to 1-1 with a win over the New York Giants. It wasn’t perfect and here are three things to look at following the win.

They weren’t without flaws, but the Dallas Cowboys did what they needed to do to move to 1-1 with a win on Sunday Night Football. The 20-13 score made it seem closer than it was as Dallas was in control all game.

Facing perhaps their biggest rival in the NFC East, the New York Giants, Dallas came out and scored quickly on a long touchdown pass to speedy wideout Tavon Austin.

That play answered the question about who would get downfield for them and make defenses respect the deep ball. Dallas also answered some other questions as well like whether or not they could win without a dominant performance from running back Ezekiel Elliott and if they should believe in Dak Prescott as their quarterback.

Elliott played hard with 78 yards and a big touchdown run — and eclipsed the output of No. 2 overall pick Saquon Barkley on the ground as he managed 28 yards on 11 carries. But he wasn’t controlling the game as he had in the past when Dallas would win.

That meant they needed Prescott to step up and he did with some clutch passes and runs. It wasn’t pretty, but it worked and the Cowboys should feel better heading into Week 3.

With all that said, we look at the three main takeaways from their divisional win.
