Kirk Cousins had arguably the best performance of his career on Sunday, as the Minnesota Vikings played to a 29-29 tie with the Green Bay Packers.

If there was any silver lining from the Minnesota Vikings 29-29 tie with the Green Bay Packers from Sunday afternoon, it was that Kirk Cousins appears to have found his groove with the offense.

In his first career game at Lambeau Field, Cousins completed 35-of-48 passes, for 425 yards, four touchdowns, and a passer rating of 118.9. He also added an interception after Laquon Treadwell bounced a near-perfect throw off his hands and into the arms of Packers’ safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix.

Cousins’ best throw came with only 0:36 remaining, as he dropped back and — in the face of pressure and a QB hit from Mike Daniels — threw a 22-yard strike into double coverage and into the grasps of Adam Thielen for a touchdown. Somehow, some way, Thielen came down with the ball in what looked to be a near-impossible play.

On the very next play, Cousins threw a beautifully timed pass to Stefon Diggs for a two-point conversion to tie the game.

Throughout the whole contest, it was apparent Cousins had a genuine connection with his receivers. A completion percentage of 72.9 and average of 8.85 yards per completion is more than enough to support that sentiment.

But it wasn’t just that — Cousins also passed the eye test. He completed 21 throws to both Thielen and Diggs, with Kyle Rudolph nabbing seven receptions of his own. A core trio of Pro Bowl pass catchers seems to be the secret to Cousins’ success.

Already with six touchdowns in only two games played, Cousins looks poised for a great rest of the season. After a subpar performance last week against San Francisco, the Vikings’ passing game is finally firing on all cylinders, with Cousins being the main catalyst for success. Minnesota will need their new franchise quarterback to continue playing at his current pace based on how the NFC North looks at the moment.
