2018 NFL Power Rankings: Risk on Mahomes paying off for Chiefs
By Dan Parzych
20. Dallas Cowboys (25)
Before Cowboys fans overreact to their team sitting at No. 20 on this list after Sunday’s win over the Giants, keep in mind this squad has a good chance of moving up if they continue this solid play. While the defense deserves a ton of credit for keeping all of those weapons on New York’s offense in check throughout the contest, Dak Prescott deserves a ton of credit as well for stepping up when his team needed it the most.
After taking a major step back during his sophomore campaign in 2017, Prescott has been taking quite the heat over the last couple of months, as some even questioned if he was the right answer for Dallas under center. Even if some will argue that most of Prescott’s production came at the beginning of the game during his 64-yard touchdown bomb to Tavon Austin, it was his ability to run successful drives along with a few key runs that helped Dallas in a big way.
Take this into consideration along with a strong night from Ezekiel Elliott, this Cowboys team has the potential to return to their level from two years ago in which they were a top contender in the NFC. However, as mentioned before, it’s important for Dallas to continue playing this well instead of making this outing a one-time thing.
