2018 NFL Power Rankings: Risk on Mahomes paying off for Chiefs
By Dan Parzych
31. Arizona Cardinals (27)
Do the Arizona Cardinals regret paying Sam Bradford all of that money in the offseason when looking at how the team has played over the first two weeks? It was one thing to put up just six points in the home opener, but coming out on Sunday while failing to score a single point against the Los Angeles Rams was simply embarrassing for this team when looking at what Bradford has to work with on offense.
Any quarterback making $20 million for one season like Bradford should be able to put up some points, but the former No. 1 pick will now enter Week 3 still in search of throwing that first touchdown pass with his new team. The pressure was already high for Arizona to return to the level of being a contender in the NFC after falling shy of the playoffs in each of the previous two seasons, but this may be a new level for the team.
At this rate, Bradford continuing to struggle could result in the Cardinals pulling the trigger by inserting Josh Rosen into the starting lineup since they hope he becomes the future franchise quarterback for this offense. Bradford may have seemed like the best option for a short-term answer, but if 2018 quickly becomes a lost cause, Arizona won’t hesitate to give the rookie quarterback some early experience.
