2018 NFL Power Rankings: Risk on Mahomes paying off for Chiefs

29. Houston Texans (18)
Prior to Sunday’s game, the Houston Texans seemed like they would have a slight advantage over the Tennessee Titans when looking at all of the issues the team was dealing with involving Marcus Mariota’s injury. Instead, the Texans failed to get anything consistent going for the most part until right before halftime, and even though it was close throughout the fourth quarter, it was still the Titans that came out on top.
All of a sudden, a team with high expectations to turn things around with key players like Deshaun Watson and J.J. Watt finally healthy are 0-2 heading into Week 3, which is the last thing Houston wanted to see happen. Opening up a new season with back-to-back games on the road is never an easy task for a team like the Texans, but to top the frustration off, the two losses have come by a combined 10 points.
In a division that is expected to be extremely competitive for a second year in a row, Houston currently sits at the bottom winless heading into next weekend’s home opener against the New York Giants. By then, maybe Deshaun Watson will look like the explosive quarterback from early on in his rookie campaign before suffering that torn ACL.
