Philadelphia Eagles: 3 Big takeaways from loss vs. Buccaneers in Week 2
By Carl Naimoli
The Philadelphia Eagles went into Tampa with a lot of optimism that they would leave 2-0. Instead they left with a loss and many concerns around the team.
The Philadelphia Eagles‘ Week 2 matchup against Tampa Bay didn’t go to plan. Instead of leaving Tampa with a win against a team with a backup quarterback, the Eagles left with their first loss of the season, bringing their record to 1-1 for 2018 to this point.
Perennial backup Ryan Fitzpatrick was able to slice through the Eagles defense at ease in this game. Fitzpatrick threw for 402 yards and four touchdowns. The lone blip in the radar was an interception that hit his receiver right in the numbers, but was bobbled to result in the pick. Other than that, Fitzpatrick was unstoppable.
The Eagles didn’t help themselves out early in the game either. They committed five penalties in just the first quarter alone. The penalties combined with sloppy play in the first half put the Eagles in a hole they couldn’t dig out of.
They did their best towards the end of the game to make the score seem reasonable, but this game was dictated by Fitzpatrick and the Buccaneers. What seemed like a sure win for many Eagles fans turned into the Eagles most disappointing loss in a very long time.
Now Philadelphia is left looking ahead to a matchup with the Colts in Week 3. But before we get there, here are the three big takeaways from the Eagles loss to Tampa in Week 2.
