The Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears are both looking to bounce back from tough season-opening losses as they meet on Monday Night Football in Week 2.

Early-season heartbreak was in order for both the Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks to begin the 2018 season. The former held a big lead over the rival Packers for much of the game, only to see a superstar quarterback defy injury and maestro a comeback. In the case of the latter, they found themselves on the wrong end of a tough battle. Now, the two squads will square off and try to rectify those losses on Monday Night Football.

Right before the start of the regular season, the Bears pulled off a blockbuster trade that landed them Khalil Mack. That move paid immediate dividends for Vic Fangio’s defense as the superstar pass rusher was a menace in Week 1. However, the hope is that he and Leonard Floyd can wreak even more havoc this week. Not only are they facing a weak Seahawks offensive line, but Mack may also be less limited in terms of his workload.

As for the Chicago offense, they have a matchup with a Seattle defense that has historically been tough to contend with. While Earl Thomas and Bobby Wagner remain, though, this is a new-look unit. Subsequently, Matt Nagy will look to utilize the new (and old) weapons at the disposal of Mitchell Trubisky, from Allen Robinson to Tarik Cohen, to exploit some holes.

Facing off against Mack and the Bears defense will be Russell Wilson and company. Again, Wilson is behind one of the worst O-lines in the league. What’s more, the dynamic quarterback will also be without Doug Baldwin for this game due to injury. As such, we’re likely going to have to see some magic from the former Wisconsin Badger for his team to pull this one out on the road.

Playing at home, it’s not necessarily surprising that the Bears are favored over the Seahawks in this one. However, with the line being set at 4.5 points, the indication is that the oddsmakers know about as much as we do in regards to what both of these teams are in their 2018 iterations.

Prediction

This could be proven wrong in an instant, but I don’t believe that going up big on Green Bay was an aberration for Chicago. Rather, it was blowing the lead and ultimately losing that was the outlier for what this team actually is. With their ability to expose the Seattle offensive line in this game and attack a defense that is lesser than previous teams, I think the Bears take care of business and handily win on the road.

Final Score: Seattle 17, Chicago 28
