The New York Jets are coming off a sloppy loss to the Miami Dolphins. Who are the players the Jets need to come out with a win in Cleveland?

Playing on Thursday Night Football is terrible for the quick turnaround. There’s not enough time for your body to recover from Sunday’s game over the course of essentially three days, and there’s not enough practice time to prepare in the days leading up to the game. It’s even tougher for a team like the New York Jets coming off a tough loss, but at least the Cleveland Browns, who the Jets face in Week 3, are coming off a tough loss too.

The Browns have already found different ways to not win games this year, and that could play into the Jets hands — namely with questionable decision-making and missed kicks. That said, the Jets also gave away the game against the Dolphins this past week. So, they should be hungry for a win too.

So who needs to step up for the Jets in order for the team to come away with a victory? Let’s examine the three critical players for New York on Thursday.

3. The edge rushers

The edge rushers forced Ryan Tannehill into a lot of decisions under pressure on Sunday in Week 2. They’re going to have to do the same to Tyrod Taylor.

According to Pro Football Focus (subscription required), Taylor has a passer rating of 39.6 and a completion percentage of 54.8 percent when under pressure against Pittsburgh in Week 1. So, that will be a huge key in this game. If the Jets are able to get after the veteran quarterback — and keep him contained — the defense could have a nice day at the office.
