CB, Terrance Mitchell

Terrance Mitchell has provided a bright spot in the Browns secondary. Lining up across rookie standout Denzel Ward, Mitchell has slipped in under-the-fan’s-radar as a player to watch. If his accumulating a team leading 11 solo tackles wasn’t enough, Mitchell has also tied Myles Garrett for the team lead in forced fumbles with two. Throw in a fumble recovery and his name stands above the rest on the defensive stats sheet after only two weeks of play.

The Browns secondary play has been substantially elevated with the tandem of Mitchell and Ward at cornerback. Accompanied by the play of safeties Damarious Randall and Jabrill Peppers, and the depth available with Derrick Kindred and Briean Boddy-Calhoun, the Browns pass defense is still a work in progress, but a force to be reckoned with nonetheless.

While the Browns were very solid defensively a year ago, the Dawgs of Defense may lay claim to a status of elite as the 2018 season progresses. Terrance Mitchell continues to be a significant part of that success.

Fan favorites such as the aforementioned Garrett and Ward along with others like Joe Schobert, Christian Kirksey, and second-year standout Larry Ogunjobi, will continue draw the bulk of fan’s attention. Terrance Mitchell, however, makes this week’s list of players to watch, and he has earned it.
