Jets vs. Browns: Battle of the forlorn franchises and fans
The New York Jets take on the Cleveland Browns in what can easily be described as the battles of the forlorn franchise and torchered fanbases.
2018 has been a weird year so far. We’ve already had two ties, one belonging to the Cleveland Browns. That said, this could easily be a battle of teams that are both 2-0, but the Browns and New York Jets have both found ways to not win games that should’ve been wins.
In their Week 1 matchup with the Steelers, the Browns forced five turnovers, but failed to capitalize on any of them, and the game ended in the first Week 1 tie in the history of overtime. Last week they gave the game away to the Saints by allowing three fourth quarter scores. In Week 2, the Jets shot themselves in the foot constantly and lost 20-12 in a game that could’ve easily been there’s without penalties, turnovers, or bad routes run by receivers.
Some would say these two situations are “the Browns being themselves” and the “same old Jets.” Now they matchup on Thursday Night Football, which is typically not a place we see good riveting games, due to the teams not having enough time to prepare or recover from Sunday’s game.
With both team coming of tough losses — that should’ve been wins — this might continue what has actually been a good Thursday slate this season so far. This game comes down to who wants it more, and who wants to clear the taste out of their mouths from last week more.
The talent on both teams seems to be even. So, it’s just a game of will at this point.

Prediction
This game swung when the Browns traded Josh Gordon to the Patriots. This gives the Jets defense a much more simpler game plan, in terms of coverage, and it’s just a matter of executions.
That said, the Jets had a tough time match the Dolphins front four, and the Browns front is a much better one. If the Cleveland defense can get to Sam Darnold early and often, expect a low-scoring game. I just see the Jets having slightly too many weapons for the Browns to counter.
Final Score: New York 17, Cleveland 14
