Rushing Attack

While Tannehill has been efficient, the rushing attack has been their bread and butter. Coincidentally, the quarterback’s 48 yards garnered with his legs through the first two weeks has been a big part of that.

However, Kenyan Drake and Frank Gore deserve most of the credit. The Dolphins rushing attack currently ranks sixth best in the NFL. They are averaging 4.3 yards per carry and have totaled 255 yards through two games.

A strong rushing attack will be key for this offense. It allows Tannehill to have some time and attack with the play action pass. Drake is the leading rusher with 101 yards on 20 carries and Gore is right behind him rushing 18 times for 86 yards. Both backs have run strong so far and the Raiders defense shouldn’t do much to stop anybody Week 3.

The one thing I’d like to see is for them to punch a few more in the end zone on the ground. Currently, Drake boasts the team’s only rushing touchdown. This will have to improve as the season wears on. However, for now it’s clearly been good enough as it’s been one of the catalysts behind this team’s hot start.
