4. Jared Goff, Los Angeles Rams (4)
So, the Los Angeles Rams are looking good. They’re the best team in the NFL West and could very well be the best in the NFC. Jared Goff continues to look like a true No. 1 pick after his rookie season struggles — which shows a bad year won’t ruin a rookie even though the people holding Baker Mayfield back want us to believe that nonsense.
Goff threw for 354 yards and a touchdown in L.A.’s beatdown of the Cardinals and what’s scary is their defense is playing lights out by giving up just 13 points in two games — all of which came in the first half against Oakland.
This is a scary team and Goff is only getting better each week.
3. Tom Brady, New England Patriots (2)
Tom Brady will likely get some blame for the New England Patriots loss, but those are people who aren’t understanding what he’s working with. Brady and the New England Patriots have been bad at wide receiver. So bad, they’re taking a gamble on Josh Gordon who has managed to play a whole 11 games since 2013 due to suspensions.
That’s not the normal person they target, but the Pats know Brady doesn’t have forever to play and they can’t waste the last part of his career with Phillip Dorsett and Chris Hogan as his best options at receiver. Besides, if it works with Gordon, that could be scary. That’s a big if though.
