NFL Week 3 is where the rubber hits the road, to use a completely dated expression. The good distances from the bad, meaning some bets are obvious winners. Your best picks against the spread.

The Dolphins are undefeated and ahead of the Patriots. The Bengals are undefeated, and the Steelers are winless. The Chiefs have the best offense in the NFL. The Eagles already lost. The Buccaneers are undefeated, a game ahead of all three divisional peers that made the playoffs last season. And we have already had two ties in two weeks. How do you stay so steady in a sea of uncertainty?

With our best picks against the spread, of course! These are the games that stand out in NFL Week 3, because now we know. Some teams are blatantly bad, while others refuse to let off the gas. These are your best picks against the spread. All lines via Odds Shark.

Two brothers from New York, Dan Salem and Todd Salem, debate the NFL Week 3 in today’s NFL Sports Debate.

Dan Salem’s 2018 record ATS: 3-1
Todd Salem’s 2018 record ATS: 1-3

Todd Salem’s Best Picks ATS:

Green Bay Packers -2.5 at Washington Redskins

I have yet to see anything from either team here to push me off my preseason feelings. Green Bay should be a playoff contender, and Washington probably is not. I’ll lay less than a field goal to grab Aaron Rodgers and company against a foe that just struggled to generate any type of offense at home in Week 2.

Philadelphia Eagles -6 vs. Indianapolis Colts

The Eagles have not looked overly sharp yet this season, but Week 3 brings with it the triumphant return of Carson Wentz at quarterback. I’m not sure what the line would have been here if Nick Foles were still in line to start, but I don’t think it would have been very far off this. That means bettors are worried about how Philly has looked and Wentz being rusty. I’m worried about Indianapolis trying to stop an angry Eagles squad that just got its star player back.

Dan Salem’s Best Picks ATS:

Denver Broncos +5 at Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens got exposed last week against Cincinnati, while Denver proved it can come back to win in almost any situation. The Broncos are playing great defense, which is exactly what shut down Baltimore. They are also throwing the ball well, something the Ravens could not defend in week 2. I understand the line, because Denver is on the road. I’m still backing the better team and taking the points. Broncos all the way.

New England Patriots -6.5 at Detroit Lions

This is a classic prove-it game for the Patriots, who got humiliated last week versus Jacksonville. It’s also a matchup in which a former New England coach faces his old team, meaning Bill Belichick is going to hand it to Detroit. Add in the fact that the Lions are not very good, have looked pretty bad, and don’t match up well versus the Patriots, and its easy to back the road team. Give up the 6.5 points, because New England easily wins by a touchdown.
