Eliminate turnovers

The turnovers have to be eliminated, especially the unforced mistakes. Tannehill has already thrown two interceptions and fumbled twice. It hasn’t killed them yet, because the defense has stepped up with big plays and three turnovers isn’t a ton, but they can still be better.

In Week 1, Tannehill was picked off twice and this just isn’t acceptable. Malcolm Butler and Kenny Vaccaro both got one. Being that one of Tannehill’s greatest strengths is that he doesn’t throw picks, this can’t happen. If he’s not going to throw more than 30 touchdowns, he absolutely can’t watch his picks go up. That numbers has to stay under 15 for the season, so two in a game obviously isn’t good as that would put him on pace for 32, even if that pace is now at 16.

The fumble against the Jets was the most alarming. Tannehill actually put it on the ground twice, but only lost one of his fumbles. The fumble he lost he just seemed to be the result of him being careless and dropping it while scrambling.

Sure, anyone can make a mistake. However, that has to be a one off issue and then he can consider himself lucky it didn’t cost the team — mostly thanks to Xavien Howard’s end zone interception. If he learns from this and is less reckless next time, all is well. If it happens again, it’s a trend not a mistake.
