2019 NFL Mock Draft: Browns, Cowboys, Packers add weapons
13. Dallas Cowboys: Dawson Knox, TE, Ole Miss
With three wide receivers already off of the board, my hand was somewhat forced as it pertains to the Dallas Cowboys. Coming into the year, you might have said that taking a defensive tackle would be paramount in that case, but they’ve more than held their own up front to this point. As such, they look for a reliable No. 1 tight end with Dawson Knox. He’s an elite pass-catcher with supreme size and athleticism and, as he garners more experience, high upside as a blocker with his size.
14. Miami Dolphins: Clelin Ferrell, EDGE, Clemson
The Miami Dolphins are one of the surprise teams to start the 2018 season with a 2-0 record, though the strength of that record leaves a bit to be desired. Moving forward, however, they need to work to add more talent and youth to their front four, which they do with Clelin Ferrell. The Clemson star has nice burst for his size off the edge, projecting to excel as a 4-3 end. He could pair well for the future with Charles Harris in South Beach.
15. Tennessee Titans: Dexter Lawrence, DT, Clemson
Despite a tumultuous start to the 2018 season, the Tennessee Titans roster as a whole is in a relatively good spot. In truth, they don’t need any starting position to be filled immediately as they look ahead to the 2019 NFL Draft. What they could do is try to bolster the depth and youth up front, which Dexter Lawrence can do. Lawrence may have the most upside of any player on Clemson’s vaunted line, but he’s also the most raw. This may be a perfect situation for him as he can come in and learn the NFL game before being thrust into a huge role.
16. Pittsburgh Steelers: Devin White, LB, LSU
My word, the Pittsburgh Steelers defense has been quite abysmal to start the 2018 season, even worse than expected. They clearly need to upgrade at linebacker moving forward and Devin White out of LSU is a great way to do that. White is a freak athlete that has the athleticism to make up for some processing mistakes, even if those are becoming less frequent with more experience. He could add some true playmaking in the middle of the Steelers defense.
