The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly shopping Le’Veon Bell, and the New York Jets could be in on it, for the right price.

There are many reports out there that the Pittsburgh Steelers have opened talks to trade Le’Veon Bell. There’s no consensus of opinion on whether or not the New York Jets should consider a trade. However, there are options out there that can be looked at as to how Gang Green could land the star running back.

The Jets are rebuilding, and they need to put talent around Sam Darnold for them to eventually reach the mountaintop. Bell might be one of those answers, because not only is he a good runner and pass catcher, he also a quality pass protector. He’s an all-around three-down running back, and with Bilal Powell, it would give the Jets two quality backs for all three downs.

Having the duo of Bell and Powell gives the Jets options to have both of them on the field at the same time also. Both have had decent performance as slot receivers.

The question still remains as to whether or not the Jets should acquire him now. Let’s examine the ways they could do that if they were going to.

3. Make up for missing out on Khalil Mack and bet the farm

The Bears gave up a lot to get Khalil Mack, and Jets fans were furious at losing the Mack sweepstakes. So, the Jets could bet the farm on Bell.

With the offensive line needing upgrades, it would likely be a bad move, though. Their offensive line has seen their share of struggles this season, even though individuals have had some good performances. Their early picks in the 2019 NFL Draft should be used on offensive linemen, and if they trade for Bell, they will limit themselves in terms of the picks that will be available.

That said, Bell can make up for some of the misfortunes on the offensive line with his ability in pass protection. So, it’s a matter of the risk/reward. The Jets have to weigh this and decide if betting the farm is worth the reward.
