Kansas City Chiefs (3-0) at Denver Broncos (2-1)

Monday, September 31, 8:15pm ET

The Patrick Mahomes show kept right on rolling in Week 3, taking the 49ers as its latest victim. The young gunslinger is putting together an early case for the 2018 NFL MVP, and racking up wins along the way.

Can he do it again on the road against the Denver Broncos? It won’t be easy, but he’s got plenty of playmakers to help him bear the burden. Although the Denver defense has been stout this season, I’m not sure they’re up to the task of slowing down Mahomes, Kareem Hunt, Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce.

The only shot the Broncos have is if it turns into a shootout. They have the superior defense, but must capitalize on nearly every opportunity afforded to their offense. Is Case Keenum up to the challenge of going toe-to-toe with Mahomes, or will the veteran struggle to keep up on the scoreboard?

I’m guessing the latter will be the case, but not by much. The Chiefs just seem too hot right now to be cooled down by the Broncos, even in the unfriendly confines of Mile High Stadium. Denver will keep it close, but a game-winning drive by Kansas City keeps their perfect record intact for one more week.

Prediction: Chiefs win 28-27
