27. Dallas Cowboys (20)

Week 3 exposed the Dallas Cowboys for what they are. An up and down team that can’t be relied upon from week to week. After a poor outing in Week 1 against Carolina, the Cowboys went home and put together a good performance — although not spectacular — to defeat the New York Giants. They won that one with a decent passing game, but mostly on their defensive abilities and run game.

In Week 3 against Seattle, they just looked lost. They couldn’t find any rhythm in their passing game at all and even though Ezekiel Elliott had 127 yards on the ground, it felt mostly hollow. They once again lost the turnover battle — which is the norm for them.

They had no takeaways while surrendering the ball three times — twice on interceptions to Earl Thomas who has made it known that the Cowboys should trade for him.

While Thomas is an All-Pro safety, he’s not fixing what’s wrong with this team. It starts with their coaching as they can’t figure out how to use the players they have. They also continue to think it’s a run-oriented league when clearly everyone else has shifted to a pass-heavy philosophy. There’s a lot wrong in Big D and it’s probably not getting much better anytime soon.
