Running Backs

Javorius Allen, Baltimore Ravens

2018 stat-line: 32 yards rushing, 3 TDs, 13 receptions, 70 yards, 1 TD
ESPN ownership: 39.3 percent

Javorius “Buck” Allen has now outscored teammate Alex Collins (95 percent ownership) in all three contests of 2018. While Collins gets the majority of work on the ground, Allen is more so used in the passing game and goal-line scenarios. Allen has found himself in the end-zone every week, becoming Baltimore’s staple for scoring at the running back position.

Week four brings a match-up against a friendly Steelers front seven, as Allen will likely see the same workload as the previous three weeks. Splitting shares with Collins does put a damper on his fantasy upside, but Allen has shown no signs of relinquishing his role in a Ravens offense that clearly values his position.

Alfred Morris, San Francisco 49ers

2018 stat-line: 153 yards rushing, 1 touchdown, 2 receptions, 32 yards
ESPN ownership: 58.4 percent

For the first few weeks of the season, Morris played behind the league’s leading rusher Matt Breida. After Breida suffered a hyper-extended knee, he is officially questionable for this week’s game with the Los Angeles Chargers. Should he not be able to make the field, Morris almost instantly becomes RB2 material.

With Jimmy Garoppolo out for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL, head coach Kyle Shanahan will likely turn to the ground in order to keep the chains moving. Against Kansas City, Morris was able to rush for 67 yards on 14 carries and find the end zone. Similar success should find Morris in Week 4, as a boost in the passing game should help his value as well.
