Injuries have hampered the Jacksonville Jaguars running attack, lately. Hopefully, they will have Leonard Fournette on Sunday

There is a concerning situation concerning the Jacksonville Jaguars running game. Leonard Fournette has missed the last two games due to a hamstring injury. To make matters worse, T.J. Yeldon is considered day to day after an ankle injury.

Which one will be healthy on Sunday in Week 4 against the New York Jets — if either of them are? Head coach Doug Marrone addressed the situation on Monday. Per Marrone, via Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com, both Fournette and Yeldon will be day-to-day this week.

The Jaguars offense needs Fournette and Yeldon to be healthy on Sunday. They are able to take pressure off Blake Bortles. If they are unable to play, the power running attack will be non-existent.

Corey Grant is a very good change of pace back. He is more valuable as a receiver out of the backfield. He is much better out on the edge than running between the tackles. Then there is Brandon Wilds. He was activated off the practice squad in week two to replace the inactive Fournette. Wilds carried the ball once for five yards last Sunday.

Last week’s injury report was surprising. Three running backs were listed as missing practices. Only Grant was able to fully participate in each practice. Suppose neither Fournette or Yeldon is able to play on Sunday against the Jets. Will the Jaguars utilize the fullback position to act as the lead blocker for Grant or Wilds? Will Bortles assume the role as the power running back out of zone read plays?

Apparently, Jacksonville will not seek to sign a free agent. Do not expect Dave Caldwell to contact Pittsburgh in order to obtain Le’veon Bell. Oct. 30 is the NFL trade deadline. It will be interesting to see how long the Jaguars wait before making any kind of decision. Let’s hope Fournette and Yeldon are ready for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.
