11. Los Angeles Chargers: Jeffery Simmons, DT, Mississippi State

We are seeing early this season that a lot of the defensive success for the Los Angeles Chargers is thanks to the work of Joey Bosa on the edges. With him injured, they’ve had troubles stopping opposing offenses. While Melvin Ingram is no slouch, they need more help on that line if they want to be a team that can compete in the AFC West.

Here they add more talent to the group with Jeffery Simmons, the massive defensive tackle out of Mississippi State. The 6-4, 300-pound tackle has already been destroying backfields with 8.5 tackles for a loss in four games.

That coupled with his ability to provide an interior pass rush (five sacks in 13 games as a sophomore) makes him an incredibly intriguing prospect.

Of course, when talking about the Chargers in recent years, there’s also the idea of looking for a quarterback. Philip Rivers is getting a bit long in the tooth, but he hasn’t slowed down yet, so maybe the Bolts push that off for at least another season. Or they could always go after one in the later rounds in hopes they can be groomed into his heir.
