12. Detroit Lions: Greedy Williams, CB, LSU

After two weeks, it looked like the Matt Patricia era was about to implode. The Detroit Lions lost the first two games under their new head coach and then had a game against his former team — the New England Patriots — in prime-time. Not only were they facing the defending AFC champions, but the Pats were fresh off a loss which is usually bad news for the opponent.

That didn’t bother the Lions though, as they upset the Patriots and won in a game they pretty much controlled from the start. It was a testament to the mental toughness Patricia is trying to bring to the team. Yes, they’ve been successful in the past during the regular season, but he wants them to learn to win later in the year as well and is changing the way they approach every week.

So, at 1-2, the talk of an upset locker room has died down. Maybe they’ll buy in, but to go where they really want, more talent is needed. Here they land the top corner in the class in Andraez “Greedy” Williams. LSU has a history of sending quality defensive backs to the NFL and Williams looks to be one of the better ones in recent seasons.

He’s got the tools to be a shutdown corner, and we can see how much such a player can help a defense by looking at how well Marshon Lattimore has done in New Orleans as well as Denzel Ward in Cleveland.
