2019 NFL Mock Draft: Cowboys turn the page, Raiders find pass rushers
By Randy Gurzi
2. Houston Texans: Jonah Williams, OT, Alabama
After the way Deshaun Watson broke out as a rookie, it seemed like the Houston Texans only needed him to return to health to again be a competitive team. That hasn’t been the case though as Watson back under center hasn’t led to early season success for Houston.
Instead, it’s led to them realizing they have a lot more holes than they realized. It’s probably also put head coach Bill O’Brien firmly on the hot seat as a second-straight losing season could seal his fate. Especially if it once again such a bad season gets them in the top-five of the draft (the fourth overall pick would have been theirs, but it was surrendered to the Cleveland Browns in the trade to pick Watson the year before).
Whether or not there’s a new head coach in charge, the first thing to fix has to be this offensive line. They have a couple small pieces that seem like they could be salvaged, but as a unit, they’re really bad. Here, they look for a centerpiece to their line and select Alabama offensive tackle Jonah Williams.
He plays for one of the more demanding coaches in one of the best programs of all-time and has been a stud for the Crimson Tide. He can step right in and be the best blocker on the Texans’ roster.
