The Dallas Cowboys moved to 2-2 on the season with their win against the Detroit Lions in Week 4. Here are three standouts from their home win.
It was a nail-biting finish to a game between two teams that seem to always play one another too closely. The Dallas Cowboys moved to 2-2 while knocking the Detroit Lions down to 1-3 on the early season as they watched a Brett Maher kick split the uprights as the clock read all zeroes.
Looking over the history of these two teams playing one another makes it seem like this was the only way it would finish. There was the infamous 2013 game where Detroit got 329 yards off 14 receptions out of Calvin Johnson, yet needed a last-second touchdown from Matthew Stafford to lead the Tony Romo led Dallas team.
Then there was the 2014 playoff game when again Romo and the Cowboys faced Detroit, and this time they won on what was a pretty suspect no-call on what looked like pass interference from linebacker Anthony Hitchens.
In 2016 they met again and Dak Prescott and Ezekiel led the Cowboys on a huge 42-21 win, but that seems to be the anomaly when these two clubs meet. This Sunday felt more like the rule.
After going up 23-10, Dallas saw their lead evaporate as Stafford and the Lions got them back on top with a 14-point fourth quarter. That put them up 24-23 with just over two minutes to go, but Dallas found a way to get in range for a 38-yard game winner.
Now we look back and pick three players who stood out in their big win.
