Wide Receivers

John Brown, Baltimore Ravens

2018 stat-line: 15 receptions, 338 yards, 3 touchdowns
ESPN ownership: 63.4 percent

Baltimore went out and grabbed Michael Crabtree in the offseason, hopefully securing a legitimate No. 1 receiver. Yet John Brown has taken that role and ran with it, leading the team in receiving yards (140 yards higher than the next receiver) and receiving touchdowns (nobody else has more than one). On a national scale, Brown sits at third in yards per catch with six catches of 20+ yards. Case in point, Brown is a big-play machine.

Brown has undoubtedly been boom-or-bust considering his reception levels (3,4,5,3 last four games), yet the yardage and scoring in 3-of-4 contests. Regardless, Brown finds himself producing in every game thus far, scoring at least 13 points in every game played. He has found his niche in Baltimore, and while he is nowhere close to WR1 status, he’s a sexy flex-play in all formats for the coming weeks.

Geronimo Allison, Green Bay Packers

2018 stat-line: 19 receptions, 289 yards, 2 touchdowns
ESPN ownership: 43.1 percent

Along with his first name, Allison was able to jump into the minds of fantasy football players in the preseason as he developed a serious rapport with Aaron Rodgers. Allison has been steady as a fantasy receiver, as his point totals have hit the following each week: 17, 12, 15, 14. Allison is the Packers leader in receiving yards, and is second only to Davante Adams in both touchdowns (2) and targets (29).

His ownership is already low, and will see another decrease as he suffered a concussion in the third quarter of last week’s game against the Bills. Now is the perfect time to buy low on Allison and stash him on your bench for the following weeks when the waivers begin to get thin. There’s no questioning Allison’s production with Adams drawing much of the attention, and I believe he has only begun to hit his stride.
