12. Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers (12)

Like Alex Smith before this, Cam Newton had the week off. He comes in at No. 12, with a lot of that being due to his ability to run the ball. Newton can be an incredibly accurate passer and is a former MVP. Even so, he has some erratic throws at times. Carolina will take it though because he’s a true competitor.

11. Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings (13)

Week 3 was one to forget for Kirk Cousins as he and the Minnesota Vikings were embarrassed by the Buffalo Bills. He proved that game was an anomaly as he went toe-to-toe with Jared Goff in Week 4. They lost by a touchdown, but Cousins had three scores and no interceptions.

10. Carson Wentz, Philadelphia Eagles (10)

The Philadelphia Eagles are happy to have Carson Wentz back but may need him to play cornerback. As good as he was in Week 4, the Eagles ended up losing to the Titans in overtime as Marcus Mariota had a drive to remember. As for Wentz, he has 603 yards in his first two starts and looks fully healthy.

9. Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens (16)

It seemed like the Baltimore Ravens would slowly start to take the ball out of Joe Flacco’s hands this season, but he had other plans. They may have drafted Lamar Jackson, but Flacco is excelling with his new targets this season. The Ravens are tied for first in the AFC North and Flacco has 1,252 yards with eight touchdowns and two picks — both of which came in Week 2. Outside of that one game, he’s been on fire.
