NFL Quarterback Power Rankings, Week 5: Mitchell Trubisky makes a move
By Randy Gurzi
4. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints (4)
The New Orleans Saints are once again sitting atop the NFC South and had it not been for the FitzMagic miracle in Week 1, they could very well be 4-0. Even in that one loss, Brees and the offense put up 40 points. He also willed them to victory in another shootout against the Atlanta Falcons and then easily handled the Giants this week. Brees is simply one of the best.
3. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers (2)
You know a guy is good when his team wins by three touchdowns in a shutout and he isn’t happy. Aaron Rodgers felt like the Green Bay Packers offense needs to be better and that’s a good thing to have. He’s never complacent no matter how they are playing and always wants more. That’s why he’s one of the best to ever play.
2. Jared Goff, Los Angeles Rams (3)
While guys like Brady, Rodgers, and Brees are some of the best to ever play, this season has seen the rise of some young stars like Jared Goff of the Los Angeles Rams. Goff has 11 touchdowns and just two picks on the season while already amassing 1,406 yards in four games. He just torched the talented Minnesota defense for 465 yards and five touchdowns last week. Some say he is a system quarterback, which is insulting. He’s just simply good.
1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs (1)
Another young star taking over the NFL right now is Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs. Like Goff, he’s carving defenses up but has yet to throw an interception — while already tossing 14 touchdowns.
On Monday Night Football, he silenced some critics as well. There were a small few who wondered what he would do when adversity hit and we saw that when his Chiefs were trailing and he led them back for the late win.
Heck, he even threw a crazy left-handed pass just to show us all how talented he really is. Mahomes is legit and is lighting up the NFL right now.
