19. Darnold sacked 5+ times

Isn’t it crazy to think that back in Week 1, the New York Jets looked like a team that was going to emerge as a surprise contender in the AFC thanks to their impressive win over the Detroit Lions? Unfortunately, a lot has changed since that surprise win on the road in the opener for the Jets after the team is coming off their third loss in a row, but at least the early experience with Sam Darnold should pay off in the long run.

For years, New York has desperately searching for a quarterback to build the franchise around after missed opportunities with numerous players, whether it was Ryan Fitzpatrick or Josh McCown, who coincidentally happens to be the backup to Darnold. And while the excitement is still higher than ever for Darnold’s potential, the rookie quarterback is going through some of the struggles most players deal with during their first NFL season.

Up next, Darnold will face one of the league’s top defenses in the Denver Broncos, meaning he could be in for a long outing that consists of non-stop pressure. No matter how hard Darnold tries, the sacks may be unavoidable in this matchup since Von Miller and the Broncos will do everything in their power to provide constant pressure.
