49ers trade for a veteran QB

Entering the 2018 season, the San Francisco 49ers were a dark horse pick for a lot of experts. That was understandable since they were fresh off a five-game winning streak to finish the season 6-10. That winning streak also happened to be the only five games Jimmy Garoppolo started under center for them.

The Niners then rewarded their young quarterback with a five-year contract worth $137.5 million. It seemed premature, but when you believe you found your guy, you have to keep him. Unfortunately, we are now entering Week 5 and Jimmy G is sidelined for the season with a torn ACL. C.J. Beathard is a fine backup, but if the 49ers want to stay competitive this season, they need someone better.

As of now, there are three possible players who have had success in this league that could be available. One is Tyrod Taylor, who has been benched for rookie Baker Mayfield. Taylor had struggles early on in the season but went to the playoffs in 2017 with the Bills.

Another player who is in the same division who also recently lost his job is Sam Bradford. Like Taylor, Bradford was benched for a rookie but he had much more struggles than Taylor. This one may be a longshot as he makes an awful lot of money at a position they are already paying out a ton for in Garoppolo. The same could be said of Taylor, so maybe there’s a more affordable option.

Enter Ryan Fitzpatrick. Although he lost his job to Jameis Winston, the whole world loved the run Fitzpatrick had to start the season. Imagine him coming over and using his gun-slinging ways in Kyle Shanahan’s offense. The world deserves this. Let’s make the NFL fun again with more FitzMagic.
