Run blocking specialist

Kolton Miller excels at run blocking. He is not perfect. But there were plenty of instances against the Browns were he effectively blocked in both the power and zone run schemes. The Raiders had success running the ball to Miller’s side.

More from Las Vegas Raiders

In the power run game, Miller is very good. When the power is run to his side, Miller is tasked with blocking down. This is where Miller shines. When he has an angle on a defender, he does an excellent job of keeping his feet moving and rooting them off the line of scrimmage. On the back side of a power run, he does a good job getting into the space vacated by the pulling guard. He will also look backside having secured the block.

The Raiders run more zone run than they do power run. Miller is very good in zone blocking as well. He has quick feet in zone schemes. He excels in getting across the defender and cutting them off. He can hold his block effectively.

But getting to the second level is where Miller really shines. For the most part, Miller takes excellent angles at linebackers. He is able to beat them to the spot. Once there he is able to neutralize defenders.

Miller is a real asset in the running game. But his pass protection needs a lot of improvement.
